Elon Musk: ‘It’s a little bit like being a little boy’
Elon Musk was recently quoted by Wired magazine as saying that he was “a little bit obsessed” with being an entrepreneur.
“I like to think I’m a little more than a little kid, I like to know how to be a little, I’m not the most self-aware kid, but I think I am,” Musk said.
“I’m an entrepreneur and a lot of times I feel like a little one.
I’m like, ‘Oh, I want to be an entrepreneur.'”
Musk, who was interviewed in January by a small, online business news site, said he wanted to start a business “in my lifetime.”
“And it’s a very interesting thing, to have the idea, to start your own company and see what happens,” Musk told the website.
“It’s very interesting.”
A startup is a business that can’t be patented.
But Musk said that he wanted the first stage of his company to be built on the idea that he is not just an engineer, but a “super-genius.”
The Tesla founder told the outlet that he had “this idea” for an electric car.
Musker’s startup company, Space Exploration Technologies, will be called Space X, and will be built by Musk and SpaceX, which was spun off from his original SpaceX company.
Musk said that when he was growing up in the 1960s, he had a fascination with rockets, especially the Apollo moon missions.
“I was fascinated by rockets, I think they were the most exciting thing ever,” Musk recalled.
He also said that his family would not have accepted his own father, who died in 2008 at age 87, into their lives if he hadn’t had the idea for a SpaceX rocket.
“My parents would have been very upset if I had told them I was going to be on the moon,” Musk added.
